Rules and Regulations for Person Enrichment Workshops

Registration Method

Person Enrichment Workshops are offered to current HKU students. Registration and payment will be handled via HKUEMS. All workshop registration links will be posted on this website and activated on 15 September 2021 at 10:00 am onwards. Places are offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

Please double check your availability before you enroll. When you register with HKUEMS, please have your credit card ready.

In case the workshop(s) you wish to enroll is full, you are welcome to sign up as a “student on waiting list”. Just click the link to the waiting list and follow the steps for registration. If a place is available, we will contact you.

Registration Rules and Refund Policy

Workshop Deposit & Attendance
Please pay a $100 deposit and/or a course fee for selected workshops. (You may refer to the description of individual workshops for the charge.)

The deposit is refundable after you have signed in and attended the ENTIRE workshop (i.e. no absence, no late arrivals, no early leaves). (For workshops offered via Zoom, CEDARS-CoPE will take the attendance report generated by Zoom as the final record.)

If you have FULLY attended the workshop, the deposit will be directly refunded into your bank account registered in your HKU Portal within 6 weeks after the completion of the workshop. It is important to ensure that your bank account details are accurate for processing the refund.

If you have not yet registered your bank account information with the University, you are advised to register it on SIS by following this navigation path: Login HKU Portal>Self Service> Student Centre>My Account (under Finance Section)>Bank Account Information.

Workshop Fee
Fees charged for workshops are non-refundable except in cases where:

There is an announcement of cancellation of the workshop by CEDARS-CoPE due to specific reasons; OR
A student on the waiting list of the workshop for which you have registered agrees to take your place.

Workshop Rearrangements in Response to COVID-19:

Workshops may be changed to other formats (i.e. switching from face-to-face mode to online mode), postponed, rearranged, or cancelled in accordance with the University’s policy on the infection control measures of the COVID-19. Workshop fee will be refunded only in the case of workshop cancellation. For deposit refund, please refer to the “Registration Rules and Refund Policy”.

Cancellation due to under-enrollment
Workshops with specific class size will be cancelled if the enrollment does not meet the minimum class size.

Withdrawal
If for any reason you are unable to attend a workshop, (regardless of its format,) for which you have registered, you should notify us as soon as possible. There is no refund of fees (except in the cases specified above). However, for the refund of deposits, you must send an email (email subject: Person Enrichment Workshops) to cedars-cope@hku.hk no later than 3 working days before the commencement of the workshop. The refund will only be made during the prescribed period of time mentioned above.

Absence due to Sickness
You may have your workshop fee and deposit refunded if you can provide a medical certificate showing that you are sick. The refund will only be made during the prescribed period of time mentioned above.

 

Important Notes

Resources Utilization
To avoid any waste of resources, please notify us if you are unable to attend any workshop(s) in which you have enrolled so that another student may take your place and enjoy the workshop. Your cooperation is very much appreciated.

Language Policy
For workshops in which the language is stated as “Cantonese or English (depending on participants)”, participants can request to conduct the workshop in Cantonese if ALL participants understand Cantonese. If ANY participant does not understand Cantonese, the workshop will automatically be conducted in English.

Financial Subsidies for Workshops
If you have financial difficulties which prevent you from taking part in Person Enrichment workshop(s), you may send an email to cedars-cope@hku.hk.

Photo-taking Policy
Snapshots of class activities or class photos taken by CEDARS-CoPE may be used for their respective record keeping, post-workshop sharing and event promotion.

Data Privacy Policy
CEDARS-Counselling and Person Enrichment strictly complies with the University’s Privacy Policy. Personal data collected will only be used for purposes directly related to PE workshop registration, and will not be used for any other purposes (e.g. direct marketing) or shared with any third party without your consent.
