The Privacy Commissioner’s Office is urging everyone to guard against WhatsApp account hijacking! 📱🔒

🔹 What is WhatsApp Account Hijacking?

Fraudsters impersonate friends/relatives, requesting WhatsApp codes or using fake websites to steal phone numbers and codes. They then access accounts to scam contacts for money or personal data. 💸

🔹 Protect Yourself

  1. Enable two-factor authentication.
  2. Regularly check linked devices and log out of unknown ones.
  3. Never share passwords or registration codes.
  4. Be cautious with web links and only use official WhatsApp sources.
  5. Verify sender identities, especially for money requests or personal data.
  6. Avoid unsolicited messages and never click suspicious links.

🚨 个人隐私警报!🚨

过去一个月,个人资料私隐专员公署(私隐专员公署)接获合共多间社福机构及学校的资料外洩事故通报,表示其用作与受助人、学生及/或学生家长通讯用的即时通讯软件WhatsApp的帐户遭骑劫。骗徒继而盗用已骑劫的WhatsApp帐户假冒受害机构,向通讯录的联络人发送讯息骗取金钱。

🔹 什么是WhatsApp账户劫持?

诈骗分子冒充朋友或亲戚,要求提供WhatsApp验证码或使用假冒网站窃取电话号码和验证码。随后,他们进入受害者的账户,向联系人发送诈骗信息,骗取钱财或个人资料。💸

🔹 如何保护自己

  1. 启用WhatsApp的双重认证功能
  2. 定期在WhatsApp设定中检查已连结装置,登出不再使用或不明的装置连结
  3. 切勿向他人透露任何密码或验证码
  4. 在网上搜寻WhatsApp网页版时,小心留意网页连结,不要误按虚假的WhatsApp网页版
  5. 切勿从非官方渠道下载及使用WhatsApp应用程式
  6. 一旦收到他人在WhatsApp要求借钱、汇款或提供个人资料的讯息,应先确认发送者的身分
  7. 收到不明来历或可疑短讯时要提高警觉,切勿随意打开连结或披露个人资料
