The Privacy Commissioner’s Office is urging everyone to guard against WhatsApp account hijacking! 📱🔒
🔹 What is WhatsApp Account Hijacking?
Fraudsters impersonate friends/relatives, requesting WhatsApp codes or using fake websites to steal phone numbers and codes. They then access accounts to scam contacts for money or personal data. 💸
🔹 Protect Yourself
- Enable two-factor authentication.
- Regularly check linked devices and log out of unknown ones.
- Never share passwords or registration codes.
- Be cautious with web links and only use official WhatsApp sources.
- Verify sender identities, especially for money requests or personal data.
- Avoid unsolicited messages and never click suspicious links.

🚨 个人隐私警报！🚨
过去一个月，个人资料私隐专员公署（私隐专员公署）接获合共多间社福机构及学校的资料外洩事故通报，表示其用作与受助人、学生及／或学生家长通讯用的即时通讯软件WhatsApp的帐户遭骑劫。骗徒继而盗用已骑劫的WhatsApp帐户假冒受害机构，向通讯录的联络人发送讯息骗取金钱。
🔹 什么是WhatsApp账户劫持？
诈骗分子冒充朋友或亲戚，要求提供WhatsApp验证码或使用假冒网站窃取电话号码和验证码。随后，他们进入受害者的账户，向联系人发送诈骗信息，骗取钱财或个人资料。💸
🔹 如何保护自己
- 启用WhatsApp的双重认证功能
- 定期在WhatsApp设定中检查已连结装置，登出不再使用或不明的装置连结
- 切勿向他人透露任何密码或验证码
- 在网上搜寻WhatsApp网页版时，小心留意网页连结，不要误按虚假的WhatsApp网页版
- 切勿从非官方渠道下载及使用WhatsApp应用程式
- 一旦收到他人在WhatsApp要求借钱、汇款或提供个人资料的讯息，应先确认发送者的身分
- 收到不明来历或可疑短讯时要提高警觉，切勿随意打开连结或披露个人资料
